Australia: Give cancer myths a miss - World Cancer Day message

Look beyond myths when it comes to cancer is the message being promoted internationally on World Cancer Day today.

Terry Slevin, director of education and research at Cancer Council WA says the theme of world cancer day, as determined by the Union for International Cancer Control was important because cancer myths can sometimes distract from action against the well-established causes of cancer like tobacco, overweight, alcohol, and UV exposure.

Mobile phone use was one of the most common myths raised by callers to the Cancer Council.
