review on health effects of exposure to RF from base stations - WHO Bulletin
The World Health Organization (WHO) has published a systematic review on the health effects of exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields from mobile phone base stations conducted by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and University of Basel in Switzerland.
The objective was to review and evaluate the recent literature on the health effects of exposure to mobile phone base station (MPBS) radiation.
The report states:
"In conclusion, our review does not indicate an association between any health outcome and radiofrequency electromagnetic field exposure from MPBSs at levels typically encountered in people’s everyday environment.
Regarding long-term effects, data are scarce and the evidence for the absence of long-term effects is limited...Where data are scarce, the absence of evidence of harm should not necessarily be interpreted as evidence that no harm exists. Further research should focus on long-term effects and should include children and adolescents"
